MICH has formed a relationship with a housing association called HousingFirst and has secured an option for two, two bedroom apartments at the new Alpine development behind the Pines Centre and just off Anderson’s Creek Road in Doncaster East.  This is an ideal location for MICH’s young people as it is close to great transport links and the shops and other facilities at the Pines, very close to Onemda and a short walk from the basketball courts at Mullum Mullum.\

The apartments can be rented for 1/3rd DSP (or 1/3rd total income) plus Centrelink Rental Assistance. This is remarkably low for Manningham.  The term will be initially 10 years but may be extended and HousingFirst will guarantee that anyone renting their apartments will either live there as long as they wish or will be found somewhere else nearby after 10 years.

A brochure for the apartments is here. You can also see an introductory video at https://youtu.be/GLWpvh1twSs

To explain more about this great opportunity and to allow familied to express an interest, we will be holding a short meeting from 7.15 to 8.15pm on Wednesday 24 November.  This will allow those who have young people at the Pines Learning course to drop them off and pick them up afterwards.

The meeting will be at the VantagePoint Church at 320 Reynolds Road, Donvale and a COVID safe environment will be provided.  For those who would rather attend on Zoom, this can be arranged – just let us know.

Please contact Jan Hanos on 0488 998 240 or on jan@MICH.org.au. Even if you can’t make the meeting let Jan know if you are interested.
