Our new program for carers
While the primary focus of MICH’s work is with young people, much time is also spent with families who bear the brunt of caring and who, every day, must solve problems and develop solutions for their loved ones.
Especially after the last 18 months, with the COVID epidemic and repeated lockdowns, parents and carers now deserve a bit of pampering.
Therefore, early this year we applied to the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing for a grant so that we can provide a little care for those carers and who ordinarily shoulder a lot of the work and worry.
Initial program
Because of that grant, and in association with Pines Learning, we are about to start a series of monthly ‘Caring for the Carers’ sessions – an opportunity for the carers of young people with an ID to meet for a few hours in a social setting and receive a little pampering.
The flier that describes some of the sessions planned can be found here. We hope our first session will be before this Christmas when the program will launch with Christmas Decoration and Card Making: enjoyed with The Four C’s (chrissy-pud, custard, cream and coffee).
Please if you wish to attend any of these sessions, please contact Jan Hanos at Jan@MICH.org.au or on 0488 998 240.
Also, if you have some other suggestions for activities, please contact Jan.
